=ERROR.TYPE(error_val)
Purpose / Description
Identifies the specific error referenced to assist in handling different error types.
Arguments
Name Type Description
error_val error A constant, reference or nested expression whose value is to be examined.
Type Specific Value Description
number 1 If the value of error_val is #NULL!
number 2 If the value of error_val is #DIV/0!
number 3 If the value of error_val is #AVLUE!
number 4 If the value of error_val is #REF!
number 5 If the value of error_val is #NAME?
number 6 If the value of error_val is #NUM!
number 7 If the value of error_val is #N/A
number 8 If the value of error_val is #GETTING_DATA
number 9 If the value of error_val is #SPILL!
number 10 If the value of error_val is #CONNECT!
number 11 If the value of error_val is #BLOCKED!
number 12 If the value of error_val is #FIELD!
number 13 If the value of error_val is #UNKNOWN!
number 14 If the value of error_val is #CALC!
error #N/A If the value passed to error_val is not an eror value.

Note: Error type 8 was introduced in Excel 2007, and the error types 9 to 14 are for new errors introduced in Excel 365.
