Function Reference: ISNUMBER

Syntax
=ISNUMBER(value)
Purpose / Description
Determines if the value is a number value. Number values in Excel are stored as double-byte precison floating point numbers and can range in value between ±1x10±308.
Arguments
Name Type Description
value any The value which is to be examined to determine if it is a number value.
Return Values
Type Specific Value Description
logical TRUE The value argument is a number value.
logical FALSE The value argument is not a number value. Note that coercion of value type does not occur, so numbers stored in text strings will return FALSE.
Notes / Comments / Advice / Warnings
Note: As this is a function for determining value type, it does not return errors when an error value is passed, as that is not a reference, so in that case, it returns FALSE.
